We have been made aware of a case of neurological Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1) in Hampshire in the last few days. The outbreak is currently being controlled under strict veterinary advice so it is hopeful that there will be no further spread, but it was at a competition venue with horses coming and going.

We will continue to post updates if there is further spread. We strongly recommend that all horses coming on to yards for the first time, or having been away in temporary stabling are isolated for 2-3 weeks before coming into direct or indirect contact with others as a general habit to control infectious disease.

Vaccination for Equine Herpes Virus is available.

Please see out Equine Herpes Factsheet for more information.
